Palestine, the Road towards Independence

سلامي إلى الريـم التي في الشدود****ولبنى و نعمى قادعـــات اليهود

سلامي إلى الذفراء من أرض رد****و يافا و حيفا و الهوى و الصفود

لقد زال بعض الغم لما تجلت****حمامات كرم في العلا مــــــــــن بعيد

سلامي و بشري يا فلسطين صبرا****أتذرف سدى دمعات أم الشهيد

فما خالد ميت و أفنان تحيا****فلا تبتـــــــــــــئس عكا و ﻻ ذات لود

ضياء و دنيا في جنان فسيح****و نوران في ثـــــــوب الملاك السعيد

و لو جر دهر درة ﻻت ينسى****صبي و ﻻ آلاف جنــــــــــــد الجنود

فلسطين يكفي كم أريقت دماء****فلسطين قومـي اليوم بالنصر شيدي

بنو يعرب في أرض كنعان أصل****أذكرتكم حـــــــــرب الجذيم العنيد

لئن كان خصمي يشتكي ثم يبكي****فإني أخاطــــــــــــبكم بقول سديد

لقد فند استدلال عهد قديم****إذا سوف يستــــــــــــــــبدل بعهد جديد

بما ليس بهتانا و ﻻ أمر زيف****كتاب يعـــــــــــيد الآن رسم الحدود

خليل و رام الله و القدس ضمت****إلى غزة مــــن دون فرض القيود

جليل و رأس العين حتى جنين****و نابلس موصــــــــــول بكفر اللبود

فلسطين إن العز في رسم خط****من الشرق حتي الغـــــرب كيما نسود

فلسطين مهلا كيف تنسون فضلي****لما البعض فيــكم خان كل العهود

حثيتم ترابا صوب وجهي بجهل****ألا إن في الصحـراء يكمن وجودي

فلسطين ﻻ بأس و ﻻ ثم غم****قليلا أبالي شـــــــــــــــر ذاك الحسود

لأني لدي القلب يأبى شتاتا****و لي السعــــــــــــي هل منيت أيام عيد

فلسطين كل البسط نادت بصوت****تعيشــــــــــون كالأسياد ﻻ كالعبيد

و يشهد لنا التاريخ ما ضاع حق****فذيلت قــــــــــــولي عجمة بالمفيد

Palestine, home o' martyrs, Land o' Promise,
Thy glorious days havest now merrily begun
'Tis time thy oppressors learn from Syre Thomas
Paeans o' fame, patience and a proud slogan.

Palestine, the soil o' Tiberias, the peaceful era
No soul back then hath repined thy existence,
Was the truth held from the mouth o' Chimaera?
Prove me wrong, act with some remonstrance.

Palestine, to-day, no single room 'round the glebe
Shelters two active brains that ignore thy right,
All men, women, children, all old and ephebe,
Pensive as they are, do not seek darkness as light.

Palestine, if I stand and lament those who died,
Or tangle myself with the loss o' the taste o' life,
Or sag because the rulers have constantly lied,
Pardon me, I will still be feeding hatred with strife.

Palestine, nations straggle to recognize the State
Are limited to a Compact o' Perverted Seven
Nations struggle for thee use their logic to state:
Palestine is free, independent and on earth heaven.

I mention these nations with pride and esteem
If they exceed the number of effulgent stars,
Nations o' wisdom, O Albion does it seem,
All against one, or one against all, that spars?

Afghanistan, Belgium, Belize and Yemen,
Bangladesh, Brazil, Chad and Iran,
Azerbaijan, the Congos, Cuba and Jordan,
Then name amongst them Granada and Oman.

The list is not short and includes Indonesia,
Burkina Faso, Gabon, Lao, Qatar and Tunisia,
The Honduras, Lesotho, Luxembourg, Malaysia,
And Lebanon, Home, Myanmar and Santa Lucia.



Again, wise men joined the cause from Argentina,
From Algeria, Zimbabwe, Russia and Botswana,
From Austria, Nicaragua, Niger, Turkey and China,
With friends from Somalia, Syria, Iraq and Ghana.

The Dominican said yes, and so did Bahrain and Tanzania,
The Mozambique, Spain, Djibouti, Egypt and Mauritania,
All agreed, like the Philippines, the Emirates and Slovenia,
To utter the truth, shouldered by France, India and Armenia.

Do thee not forget Belarus, Peru, Sri Lanka and Bhutan,
Darussalam, Suriname, Mali, Greece then Uzbekistan,
Nigeria, Guinea, Iceland, South Africa, Kuwait and Sudan,
Malta and Chile, Kenya and Korea, supported by Pakistan.

Costa Rica that is far pitied along with Finland and Gambia,
And the Viet Nam, Djibouti, El Salvador, Malawi and Namibia,
Followed the same path, followed by Ireland, Norway and Libya,
To sit next to Uruguay, Mauritius, Guatemala and Cambodia.

Are the names of these nations not enough to make the crass run,
If I count Cyprus, Bolivia, Venezuela, Serbia and Kyrgyzstan,
And Paraguay, Angola, Nepal, the Grenadines with shining sun,
Or Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Senegal, Ecuador and Kazakhstan?

Now, think with sense and give Palestinians their freedom,
They deserve to live as the rest does and rule by themselves,
For so hast decided every republic on earth and every kingdom,
The truth is always hidden, except for he the wise who delves.
